In a poignant interview with To Vima, Holocaust survivor Lola Hassid Angel recounts her harrowing experiences as a child in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. At just six years old, Lola was deported from Athens with her family in 1944, enduring 13 months of starvation, disease, and the constant presence of death. She vividly remembers the meager daily rations, the loss of loved ones, and the resilience that carried her through. Now 88, Lola reflects on her stolen childhood and the enduring impact of those dark days. Her story is part of an art project by Artemis Alcalay, aiming to preserve the memories of Greek Jewish Holocaust survivors.
