Once a digital agora of free speech, Twitter—now rebranded as X—has become a playground for billionaire bromances and algorithmic chaos. Since Elon Musk's 2022 acquisition, the platform has transformed from a hub of global discourse to a megaphone amplifying his and Donald Trump's voices. The result? A mass exodus of users and brands, including Stephen King, Lizzo, and the Guardian Media Group, who’ve fled the platform citing rising toxicity and Musk’s laissez-faire approach to content moderation. In Greece, X's user base has shrunk from 2.6 million to 1.9 million in just a year. Meanwhile, competitors like BlueSky are gaining traction, offering a more user-friendly and less volatile alternative. Even Musk's own xAI project seems to be a more attractive investment than his social media venture.
